The Holy Cow – How Is It August – Training Update

Seriously though. How is it already August? It’s been a strange summer here in Wisconsin. A cool start, followed by rain. So much rain, it’s not even funny. Now all of a sudden it’s August and it somehow is just starting to feel like summer is here to me.

It has been a busy last few months at work with lots of long and strange hours. I couldn’t be more excited to be back to more “normal” hours. Being able to run after work has been a great way to unwind. The last few months had such long days that I just couldn’t get motivated to run after leaving the office. I’m excited to be back in the green Training Peaks club, where I’m hitting all goals on my workouts day after day.

The miles are starting to ramp back up after Dances With Dirt. This past weekend included two days with long runs. A back to back weekend with plenty of miles included. I strangely miss the back to back long run days. They are tough and a struggle but great character builders. There really make you feel like you’ve left it all out there. That, I missed.

“Missing the difficult runs” will be incredibly helpful for the last push of training this year. It’s 75 days to “The Fall 50”. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I know it will be difficult but it’s a race I’m confident I can finish by overcoming the obstacles the day will throw at me. Until next time, happy GREEN Training Peaks days to all!
